Clive Drummond is shown in 1955, when he was senior announcer for Radio 2YA. Drummond had been involved in radio from its pioneering days, beginning in 1912 as a Morse code operator. In 1922 he helped set up Radio 2YK, starting his career as an announcer there. Drummond stayed on when the nationalised station became 2YA, the main station of the YA (non-commercial) radio network. He was one of the first to carry out radio interviews and events commentary. Apart from a break for war service, Drummond worked for 2YA until his retirement in 1955. In the sound file you can hear Drummond broadcasting some of the results from the 1935 election.
