This blackbird has made its nest in a forest of television aerials. In many of New Zealand’s cities, towns and farms more introduced birds such as starlings, sparrows, chaffinches, thrushes and blackbirds are seen than native birds. They tend to adapt better to nesting and feeding in a built environment. But in Wellington, where there is native bush close to the city centre, the native tūī, kākā, kererū, morepork, kingfishers and grey warblers are common visitors to local gardens.
