Prominent Malaysians: Professor Mazlan Othman

Mazlan Othman studied physics at the University of Otago in the 1970s. She came on a Colombo Plan scholarship and was the first woman to gain a PhD in physics from the university. She went on to be director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in Vienna from 1999 to 2002.
