Nesting shore birds are vulnerable to vehicles driving along shores, dunes and riverbeds. This dotterel chick has been crushed by the wheel of a four-wheel-drive vehicle, a common fate for eggs and chicks in areas where vehicles encroach on their nesting grounds.
