Beach platform, Motukorea Island (1 o 2)

Beach platform, Motukorea Island

The narrow shore platform on Motukorea (Brown’s) Island, near Auckland is covered with a layer of pebbles held together by calcareous cement, forming a small area of what is locally called beach limestone. The new mineral motukoreaite was found within the light-coloured calcareous material.
