Artificial reefs

In 1987 the hulk of the bombed Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior was sunk in Matauri Bay, Northland, as an artificial reef for the enjoyment of recreational divers. The wreck has become encrusted with seaweeds and shells, providing a home for marine creatures.
