Blue warehou (at top, Seriolella brama) and silver warehou (Seriolella punctata) are two species that may be familiar to New Zealanders as fillets on ice in the fish shop. Blue warehou feed indiscriminately on salps, krill, crabs and small squid at depths of 20 to 200 metres. Silver warehou feed in schools and are common off the South Island and on the Chatham Rise, typically at 200–800 metres deep.
