Sheep trapped in snow

Sheep trapped in snow

Sometimes low-pressure systems bring very cold air from the south, which precipitates as snow over eastern parts of the South Island. This occurred in August 1992. These sheep were caught in exceptionally heavy snow on Sawdon Station, Lake Tekapo. The photograph was taken by a farmer, Tony Allan.
