A & P (agricultural and pastoral) shows are often social highlights in New Zealand’s rural communities, and Northland is no exception. Here Reuben Carter of the Opononi Axemen’s Club strikes his final blow in the Two Man Standing Chop Butcher’s Block event at the 2002 Whangārei A & P show.
