Hospital services

A hospital was established at Rāwene, on the Hokianga Harbour, in 1910. Because of the bad roads, getting patients to hospital for treatment was a challenge. Here, Mr E. Ferguson transports a patient by sled along a muddy road. A nurse stands ready to receive them at the gate to the hospital on the hill behind.
