Picking fruit, Kerikeri

Fruit growing is a major part of Northland’s horticultural industry. Citrus, kiwifruit, tamarillos and avocados are grown, particularly around Kerikeri. The biggest company there, Kerifresh, employs seasonal workers, including backpackers, Samoan temporary contractors and locals, to harvest the crop in late autumn.
