Charming Creek railway (1 o 2)

Charming Creek railway

This is the bush railway of the Charming Creek mine. During the 1930s there was a revival of small local mines, including one at Charming Creek, a tributary of the Ngakawau River, north of Stockton in Buller. The railway had been built to bring timber out from a sawmill, but it was later used to carry coal from the mine for shipping from Westport.
