Lifeguards on duty

There are surf lifesaving clubs at most popular swimming beaches around New Zealand, providing a voluntary service essential in preventing drownings. Here three lifeguards of the Whangarei Heads Surf Life Saving Club watch people in the stretch of water between two flags. This stretch is known to all beach users as the patrolled area, where they can swim with confidence.
