Paragliding in the mountains

Paragliding in the mountains

Dale Muller paraglides in Canterbury’s Craigieburn Range, the kind of terrain conducive to paragliding. Unlike hang gliders, which are relatively cumbersome to transport, paragliders are light enough to be carried up mountains. Pilots often fly in the Craigieburn Range in spring when the winds are light. Flights can last up to five hours and paragliders can reach altitudes of nearly 3,000 metres.
