Leslie Cecil Lloyd Averill

Before commencing his illustrious medical career, Leslie Averill fought with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade in the First World War, and was the first man to enter the beseiged town of Le Quesnoy in 1918. In this post-war photograph, he points to where the scaling ladder was placed on the 60-foot wall surrounding the town.
