Toxic bloom warning

Image
Toxic bloom warning

New Zealand waters are routinely monitored for toxic plankton blooms. If concentrations of toxic plankton become too high, health warnings are issued. These caution against swimming, or collecting and eating shellfish in certain areas. Notices like this one at Manukau Harbour remain around affected parts of the coast until water samples show that the area is free of toxicity.
