Maata Te Reo Hura (then Maata Rātana) and her sister Piki-te-ora accompanied their father Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana on his overseas tours in 1924 and 1925. They were members of the Rātana Concert Party which performed to cover travel costs and to attract audiences to hear Rātana's message.
