Kōrero: Cleveland, Francis Leslie

The chief reporter

A seated man lights a cigarette, his feet on his cluttered desk, in front of shelves filled with papers.

Les Cleveland’s 1954 portrait of Bert Kane, the chief reporter for The Press newspaper, captures the busy male world of journalism which Cleveland had left behind when he moved to the West Coast three years earlier.
