Recording moko

Michael King with Ngakahikatea Whirihana of Matahura, a kuia he met while reporting Māori stories for the Waikato Times. King’s fascination with her moko led him and photographer Marti Friedlander to produce a photograph book showcasing 70 elderly women with moko.
