Working with others

Jack Laird in middle age, standing in the pottery workshop with a variety of pottery items at various stages of completion. With him are two female workers, one of whom appears to be applying a handle to a bowl.

A key aspect of Waimea Pottery was educating apprentices and potters. Staff worked on Jack Laird’s designs, gaining speed and accuracy from throwing the same shapes continually, as well as developing their own projects.
