Marti Friedlander photographed many of the leading artists and writers of the second half of the twentieth century. The Hanlys were central figures in the burgeoning Auckland visual arts scene of the 1960s and 1970s; Pat (right) was a prominent painter, while Gil emerged as a leading documentary photographer.
