Suburban Development, Henderson, 1966

Marti Friedlander’s photography captured aspects of New Zealand life during a period of social change. This 1966 image portrays a salient aspect of a rapidly expanding Auckland; former rural land stripped bare except for the beginnings of a new suburb, the family group small in this new kind of social space.
