Shot putter Tom Walsh, 2016

Tomas (Tom) Walsh prepares to throw during the men's shot put final at the 2016 Rio games. He became the first New Zealand man to win an Olympic field medal when he came third with a put of 21.36 metres. Walsh had previously won gold at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships and silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. 

Following the Olympics Walsh won the last two events of the elite Diamond League series, and with them the overall title for 2016. He won gold at the 2017 outdoor world championships and the 2018 indoor world championships and Commonwealth Games.
