In 1994 the Frenz School organisation was founded to promote French-English bilingual education in New Zealand. Two Auckland schools – Richmond Road and Birkdale North – have bilingual classes run under the scheme. At Richmond Road’s Archiplel unit, new entrants are taught in French five days a week, while older children have three days of French and two of English.
