Members of Dunedin’s Malaysian community celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, in October 2009. About 400 people gathered to mark the end of the Muslim month of fasting. In New Zealand Islam is the most common religion professed by Malays; it is the state religion in Malaysia.
