These miniature dioramas of scenic New Zealand landscapes were shown in the New Zealand part of the British pavilion at the New York World's Fair. The official guide to the pavilion described them: 'In miniature are presented hot lakes set in tropical verdure, glaciers that travel down mile-high mountain-sides, underground caverns illuminated by myriads of glow-worms, and fiords running miles inland and flanked by forest-covered precipices.' On the entrance wall can also be seen a poster promoting New Zealand's centennial.
