The Napier Street Townhouses in Auckland's Freemans Bay reintroduced terrace housing into New Zealand cities in 1982. Designed by Cook Hitchcock & Sargisson in a postmodern style and characterised by their alternating 'gelato' colours, the townhouses responded to a demand for higher-density housing in gentrifying central-city neighbourhoods.
