Tanya Carlson's 'Marcella' dress, 2013 (5 o 5)

Tanya Carlson's 'Marcella' dress, 2013

Tanya Carlson studied fine art at East Sydney Technical College in the late 1980s and secured a job as a pattern-maker at Verve Clothing in her home town of Dunedin in 1990. The following year Verve closed down, and Carlson and a partner bought the business and retained its production capabilities. TC Works specialised in made-to-measure wedding and special-occasion dresses. The business was transformed into the fashion label Tanya Carlson in 1997. Carlson remained a leading designer in the Dunedin fashion scene, and her garments were prized for their vintage aesthetic. The 'Marcella' dress was part of her 2013 collection.
