Officers of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force censor soldiers' letters onboard a troopship during the Second World War. In both world wars officers had the job of censoring their men's letters to ensure that no information useful to the enemy was passed on. The officers in this picture have been identified as probably part of the 4th Reinforcements, on the troopship Nieuw Amsterdam, bound for the Middle East in February 1941.
