Annie Goldson, a professor at Auckland University's Department of Film, Television and Media Studies, is seen briefing her cast and crew during the shooting of her 2011 documentary, Brother number one. The film follows Kiwi Olympic rower Rob Hamill to Cambodia to retrace the steps of his brother, murdered by the Khmer Rouge in 1978, after being snatched from his yacht. Goldson's first feature documentary, the 1999 Punitive damage, about the death of a young New Zealander at the hands of the Indonesian military, was followed by at least eight others, including He toki huna: New Zealand in Afghanistan (2013). In 2007 she was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to film.
