In the 2010s the Nelson Museum embarked on two ambitious digitisation projects. One was of Nelson Photo News 1960–1972, which provides a unique photographic record of life in the Nelson area during those years. The second was the relocation and digitisation of 150,000 glass-plate negatives, which included the Tyree Studio collection. With studios in Nelson and Golden Bay, the Tyrees documented the people and events of the north of the South Island from the 1870s to 1910.
