Fiona Pardington, 'Greenstone heitiki 16401, Otago'

In the early 2000s Fiona Pardington photographed a series of Ngāi Tahu hei tiki held by the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Pardington used a number of flashes per exposure, which illuminated the curves and crevices of each hei tiki and spoke to the traditional Māori idea that greenstone possesses its own light.
