Michael Neill, emeritus professor of English at Auckland University, pictured here in 2013, is an internationally recognised expert on Shakespeare and 16th- and 17th-century drama. In addition to writing literary criticism, he has edited the plays Antony and Cleopatra and Othello for the Oxford Shakespeare series.
