Environmental sustainability was a key aspect of Wraight and Associates' design for Wellington's Waitangi Park. Waitangi Stream was an important source of food for Māori before European settlement but it became very polluted as the area was industrialised. During the park's construction the stream was exposed to daylight and cleaned. New water features and aquatic plantings were established at the end of the park closest to the harbour, as pictured here.
