Swiss-American landscape architect Fred Tschopp lived and worked in New Zealand between 1929 and 1932 and has been described as New Zealand's first modern landscape architect. His interest lay in creating well-functioning urban spaces, which distinguished him from garden designers and their more limited concerns. This is Tschopp (right) with renowned Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx in California.
