David Ballantyne, 1948

David Ballantyne's novels enjoyed little success in his lifetime. In the 2000s they remain generally little known, but Ballantyne's reputation among literary critics is high. His novel Sydney bridge upside down, originally published in 1968, was re-issued in 2010 and dramatised as a play in 2013. This is Ballantyne at his desk in Wellington in 1948.
