Animal rights activists usually advocate a 'cruelty-free' diet – vegetarian (no flesh) or vegan (no flesh, eggs, honey or dairy products) – on the grounds that diets that contain these foods cause actual or potential suffering to animals. This group of vegetarians made their views clear during a protest outside the New Zealand Meat Industry conference at Te Papa in Wellington in 2007.
