E putu haere ana ngā hū ki waho i te kuaha o te wharenui. Kia tomo te manuhiri i te wharenui me wete ngā hū ka waiho ki te taha o te kūaha (ka whakaae ētahi marae kia mau hū). I tōna tikanga kāore e pai kia haria te puehu o te marae o Tūmatauenga (te marae ātea) ki roto i te whare o Rongo (te wharenui). E ai ki tētahi atu whakamārama he tipuna anō te whare (whare tipuna). Ko tōna koruru te upoko; ko ngā maihi ōna ringa; ko te tāhuhu tōna tuaiwi; ko ngā heke ōna rara. He mahinga atawhai ki te tipuna tērā te tango i ngā hū.
