Eden Park, September 2010

The awarding of the Rugby World Cup tournament to New Zealand forced a radical upgrade of Eden Park, Auckland, in the 2000s, and the completed park can be seen in this south-facing photograph. There was a new South Stand, which could hold 22,000 people and included 50 corporate boxes, a new Eastern Stand and the ASB Stand was extended. There were new food and beverage outlets, additional toilets and a huge replay screen. The whole development cost over $200 million (mostly funded by the government) and raised the seating capacity to over 60,000 people.
