New Zealand's coxless four (from left, Les O'Connell, Shane O'Brien, Keith Trask and Conrad Robertson) appear pensive after their win at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The rowing competition at those Olympics was slightly weaker because a boycott by the eastern bloc removed some high-performing crews. In the men's competitions a different nation won the gold medal in every event, although Romania dominated the women's events. New Zealand also won a bronze in the coxed four.
