Gaming on a mobile phone, 2011

In the 2000s mobile phones were used for more than talking and texting. Playing electronic games on phones was increasingly popular and some gaming companies specialised in these games. The portability of mobile phones meant that gamers could play during the commute to work or while waiting for an appointment, as well as during their true leisure time. Aucklander Davanea Forbes, shown here, enjoyed playing the game Angry Birds on her phone.
