New Zealand table tennis player Li Chunli prepares to serve during the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England. She won a gold medal in the singles, silver in the doubles and bronze in each of the mixed doubles and team events. After the 2004 Athens Olympics she retired from professional competition and coached the New Zealand table tennis team in the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. In 2012, aged 50 and playing with a style regarded as outdated, she came out of retirement to qualify for that year's Olympics in London. However, New Zealand selectors chose not to send a table tennis team to those games. In 2014 she competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow alongside her sister, Karen Li.
