Otago with the Football Association Trophy, 1932

Seated team photo, with men in stripped black and white football uniforms and men in suits. At the feet of the team are three boys and a silver trophy. Below is a closeup of the silver trophy.

From 1892 New Zealand provinces competed against each other regularly. From 1926 the contest, usually conducted on a challenge basis, was for the Football Association Trophy which had been presented to New Zealand by the English association the previous year. Here the Otago team display the trophy after drawing with the challengers, Wellington, in a game at Logan Park, Dunedin, before a large crowd on 2 July 1932. The bottom image shows the trophy at the time of its presentation in 1925.
