Sandcastle competition

Sandcastle competition

Children work on their sand creations during a sandcastle competition at 'the Mount' (Mount Maunganui) in January 1949. Eighty children participated in the contest, organised by the 500 Club, and were given one hour to build their sandcastles. Competitions such as this are among the entertainments organised during peak holiday times at popular beach resorts.
