Late-Victorian taste

Image
Late-Victorian taste

The interior of Mt Peel station, owned by the Acland family of Canterbury, was photographed in the 1890s. The stylish drawing room represents elements of late-Victorian taste, including a variety of patterns in rugs, curtains and upholstery, many items of well-made furniture and numerous vases, framed photographs and ornaments. The emphasis on display creates a richly detailed room.
