Nola Luxford climbs into the Goodyear blimp on the way to watch the rowing races at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, accompanied by English athlete Lord David Burghley. Luxford had moved from New Zealand to the United States in her mid-20s, and appeared in 14 Hollywood movies playing minor parts. In 1932 she broadcast a daily one-hour report to Australia and New Zealand on the 1932 Olympics, and attracted a strong following. During the Second World War she provided hospitality for New Zealand airmen training in North America, and also established a memorial Anzac garden on the top of the Rockefeller centre in New York city.
