Craig Aitchison (front) passes on the inside at Auckland's Western Springs Speedway during a midget race in 2010. Midget cars have a high power-to-weight ratio, making for thrilling action. They have been raced in New Zealand since 1937, when the first international meeting was held, won by New Zealander Jerry Mathieson.
