Four-wheel-drive trial, 1992

Brendon Mallia (driver) and Raymon Woolford (navigator), of the Tararua 4WD Club, attempt a water obstacle in their Toyota Landcruiser during the 1992 Deadwood Safari. This event, run by the Wellington Cross Country Vehicle Club since 1971, forms a stage in a 10-event national competition series for 4WD vehicles. On this occasion Mallia and Woolford, like most of their fellow competitors, came to grief in the water and had to be towed out, for which they lost points.
