Cooking sausages over an open fire, Cable Bay, 1970

Sausages are cooked at a picnic at Cable Bay, Nelson, in 1970. Sausages barbecued over an open fire generally emerged black on the outside and half-cooked in the middle. Despite this, the combination of good company and eating outdoors meant few complaints would be made about the food.
