Olympic victory

Norman Read crosses the line to win gold in the 50-kilometre road walk at the Melbourne Olympic Games in 1956. The New Zealand selectors had taken some convincing that Read was good enough for the Olympic team. He only persuaded them of his worth by competing in and winning the Australian championship two months before the games.
